Lisa Martel is a classically trained chef and entrepreneur. After completing her schooling and training at the Johnson and Wales Culinary School in Providence, Rhode Island, she refined her skills over many years of working in outstanding restaurants all over the east coast. In 1990, she opened the award-winning ‘On the Park’ restaurant in Boston and became the first female executive chef in the South End at that time. ‘On the Park’ remained at the top of the Best of Boston lists for over a decade.
After moving to California in 2005, Lisa shifted her focus to raising her children and obtaining her masters in marriage and family therapy. Today she continues to nourish her community through the creation of ‘Lisa Cooks,’ a multi-purpose, food-forward business providing event-planning, catering, and weekly pre-prepared meals.
