Moises Hurtado

Oxnard District Manager for Driscoll’s

Oxnard District Manager for Driscoll’s, managing the P&L for over 6,000 acres of Raspberries, Blackberries, Strawberries and Blueberries. Moises has been a strong leader with the Oxnard District during his 17 years with the company. He has accomplished numerous achievements including developing the Oxnard Blackberry business, transitioning the districts raspberry business to 100 percent substrate, and hiring and training many of the team members in production. Moises has built strong and collaborative relationships with Oxnard Growers, the community and throughout Driscoll’s organization.

Moises was born in San Luis Obispo, California to Victor and Hilda Hurtado. His parents were Mexican Immigrant migrant workers. Moises is the second oldest of 5 children.

Growing up Moises lived in a small trailer on a 10-acre ranch that his parents worked on. Living on the ranch was the best lesson life gave Moises and made him the person he is today. Moises’s passion for agriculture grew while he lived on the farm. Warren Witten, his mentor, and owner of the ranch taught him many life lessons; from driving tractors, harvesting, to selling produce at farmers markets. In 2003, Moises received his B.S. in Agriculture Business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. In 2004 Moises left San Luis Obispo County and moved to Ventura County to pursue his career. Moises joined the Driscoll’s team in 2005.

During his childhood Moises’s family endured financial hardships and at times received support from local organizations. These challenges inspired Moises to participate in Driscoll’s Philanthropy, where he was given the opportunity to start and lead the Annual Migrant food drive. The food drive has become one of Moises’s personal achievements. In 2009 the Annual Migrant food drive began giving 50 families baskets with food essentials and blankets. The food drive continues and has increased to 250 families now receiving food essentials, hygiene products and blankets. Moises has also led the Oxnard Philanthropy group in providing grants and sponsorships throughout Ventura County. In his free time, Moises enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, fishing, and playing softball.
